Big Weekend Turns Into Big Sweep!

Going into this weekend the Cubs were struggling.  Zambrano was going to the bullpen, Soriano had a talk with Lou (about his hustle I am guessing) and the Cubs were basically limping into Milwaukee badly needing some wins.  What they came away with was great.  Zambrano pitched out of the bullpen, Ted Lilly returned to the starting rotation and pitched great and the Cub hitters really smacked the ball around.  It was a great weekend for the Cubs and Cub fans.

With Lilly returning to the team the Cubs sent down Jeff Samardzija to Iowa.  I think that was a good move.  I think he will make a good starting pitcher instead of a bullpen arm.  He needs a little more experience and command of the strike zone and then I believe he will be a permanent fixture in the Cubs rotation.

Overall, it was a great weekend for the Cubs.  They are now heading back home to face the Nationals tomorrow night.  Here’s hoping for a good homestand and to raising the “W” flag more often than not!
